Introduction to Quick-Drying Fabric -- Main Functions
The main function of quick-drying fabric is to quickly wick away sweat. It doesn't absorb sweat, but rather quickly transfers it to the surface of the clothing and increases the surface area to speed up evaporation, thus achieving the quick-drying effect.
Wearing ordinary sportswear and immediately resting after sweating during exercise can cause illness due to changes in body temperature. Quick-drying fabric, however, is breathable and warm, helping to keep the skin dry and comfortable. It's especially worth mentioning that quick-drying fabrics perform better in windproof, waterproof, and moisture-proof aspects during outdoor activities.
Introduction to Quick-Drying Fabric -- Material Introduction
Most quick-drying fabrics are made from chemical fiber materials, but due to different processing techniques, they have functions that ordinary clothing does not possess. Generally, in spring and summer, quick-drying fabrics are much more convenient and practical than heavy-duty jackets.
Currently, quick-drying fabrics mainly use polyester fiber, with some also using environmentally friendly fibers such as soybeans. Polyester fiber, also known as nylon, has different water absorption properties than cotton and linen. Cotton and linen absorb water and retain it, and have capillary action; that is, when a drop of water falls on cotton and linen clothing, the water will immediately spread. The main characteristic of polyester fiber is that after absorbing water, it does not spread through capillary action but by increasing the wet area and increasing the evaporation rate.
Depending on factors such as style, the polyester fiber content of different quick-drying fabrics also varies. Some contain polyester fiber, while others may also contain cotton, linen, or other fiber components.
